Nonlinear Effects of Power Amplifiers on Adaptive Antenna Systems

ABSTRACT:

A systematic methodology is 1st proposed for numerically analyzing the nonlinear effects of an influence amplifier on adaptive arrays. By using the proposed technique, the bit error rate (BER) degradation caused by the nonlinear distortion of amplifiers on a nine-part adaptive antenna system (AAS) was numerically analyzed employing a least mean sq. (LMS) adaptive algorithm. A closed type was initial derived to investigate the radiation pattern degradation of the null shifting caused by the amplifier’s nonlinear distortion. The obtained information were then compared with the measured results of a two-element antenna array with 2 amplifiers. The concordance of the theoretical and measured information verified the proposed technique.
